Nepal Airlines RFP Closes with Three Manufacturer Proposals

The Nepal Airlines Request for Proposals earlier this fall came to a close on 05-Dec-2023, and three STOL manufacturers presented their offers. They were: 1- DeHavilland Aircraft of Canada for the DHC-6-400 or DHC-6-300-G series; 2) Hindustan Aeronautics for the Do228 which it manufacturers under license; 3) Let Kunovice for the Let 410 and Let 410 UVP-E20. The De Havilland proposal may have a competitive advantage given Nepal’s historic ties to the Twin Otter type.

Nepal Airlines intends to finance the STOL acquisition costs internally, through their real estate holdings.

Tara Air DHC-6-400 Incident 10-Dec-2023

Tara Air’s 9N-ALO MSN 846 shed the window from the forward right emergency exit while enroute from Kathmandu to Lukla. The aircraft carried 1126kg of cargo, and there were no injuries to the two occupants. The loss of the window was not discovered until after landing at Lukla. A spokesperson commenting on the incident suggested “that sometimes happens with cargo aircraft”…..

202 - DHC-6-200 VQ-TGW InterCaribbean Airlines, Providenciales [TVPX Aircraft Solutions Inc.]

Following the delivery of DHC-6-200 VQ-TCC in Oct-2022, VQ-TGW was first noted at Nassau in May-2023 operating for Flamingo Airlines; by Sep-2023 it had been re-registered in the Bahamas as C6-FLV.

211 - DHC-6-200 N321CY Jump Run Aviation Inc., West Lebanon, ME

To Aircraft Investments Ltd. 05-Dec-2023 and registered to TVPX Aircraft Solutions Inc., North Salt Lake City, UT same day. The aircraft appears to still be in West Lebanon, ME having last done a test flight on 29-Sep-2022.

286 - DHC-6-300 N969AC Berry Aviation Inc., San Marcos, TX

Flew San Marcos, TX - El Paso, TX - Blythe, CA - Fresno, CA - Redding, CA - McMinnville, OR 11/12-Dec-2023. Presumably into Southern Cross Aviation for ferry tank installation. Possibly pending move to Philippines joining N675BA?

340 - DHC-6-300 C-FTFX Air Tindi Ltd., Yellowknife, NT

Registered to ALCI Aviation Ltd., Oshawa, ON 11-Dec-2023. The aircraft had been returned to ALCI on 18-Sep-2023, but was not officially registered until 11-Dec-2023.

440 - DHC-6-300 N83AR Twin Otter International, Las Vegas, NV

Flew Springbank, AB - Calgary-Int’l, AB 06-Dec-2023 for attention with Regent Aircraft Services.

481 - DHC-6-300 PK-NUS PT Merpati Nusantara Airlines, Jakarta

After having been parked at Biak-Frans Kaisepo, Indonesia since Feb-2014 the aircraft was placed in a container for transport to the U.S.A., and registered to Aviation Management Sales LLC, Fort Pierce, FL 04-Dec-2023 as N708GH.

516 - DHC-6-300 VH-FIW Branaire Global Pte Ltd., Singapore

Australian registration cancelled 08-Dec-2023. The aircraft was recently noted at Manta Air’s facility still on wheels.

553 - DHC-6-300 J8-MUS Air Adelphi Ltd., Saint Vincent

Updating previous entries; flew Calgary-Int’l, AB - Minot, ND - Lincoln, NE - Cape Girardeau, MO - Tallahassee, FL - Fort Lauderdale-Exec, FL - Providenciales - Tortola - Saint Vincent - Mustique 17/25-Nov-2023. The aircraft had been with Regent Aircraft Services.

563 - DHC-6-300 VP-CXB Cayman Airways Express, Georgetown

Flew Calgary-Int’l, AB - Williston, ND - Lincoln, NE - Tupelo, MS - Mobile, AL - Key West, FL - Georgetown 29-Nov/04-Dec-2023 following a corrosion check with Regent Aircraft Services. Re-entered service 07-Dec-2023 Grand Cayman - Little Cayman.

573 - DHC-6-300 T3-AKN Air Kiribati, Tarawa

Flew Tarawa - Canton Island - Kiritimati 07-Dec-2023, completing the journey in 13 hours 49 minutes. The aircraft was test flown locally on 12-Dec-2023.

577 - DHC-6-300 OY-NSA Nordic Seaplanes, Aarhus [DHC6 Invest ApS]

Danish registration cancelled 22-Nov-2023 on export to Maldives; registered to Trans Maldivian Airways, Malé 30-Nov-2023 as 8Q-TBC.

593 - DHC-6-300 9M-KIA SKS Airways Sdn Bhd, Subang

Last service 26-Oct-2023 Tioman - Subang, and withdrawn from use for balance of monsoon season.

718 - DHC-6-300HG N904RT Ikhana Aircraft Holdings LCC, Murrieta, CA [TVPX Aircraft Solutions Trustee]

Flew Murrieta, CA - Santa Maria, CA - Honolulu, HI - Tarawa 30-Nov/02-Dec-2023 on delivery to Air Kiribati. U.S. registration was cancelled 08-Dec-2023, becoming T3-AKC.

949 - DHC-6-400 C-GVFP Viking Air Ltd., Sidney, BC

Registration cancelled 08-Dec-2023; then restored again the same day.
